Annual Walk-A-Thon
Besides striving to improve the working conditions of our members, Local 888 also makes a conscientious effort to give back to our members and the communities we serve. A few years ago Local 888 learned that Sickle Cell Anemia, Leukemia and Breast Cancer are diseases that affect various members and decided to do something about it.
In an effort to support our members Local 888 put together a 5-mile Walk-A-Thon. The purpose of this Walk-A-Thon is to raise money to aide in the research for a cure for Breast Cancer, Leukemia and Sickle Cell Anemia and bring awareness to these diseases. (Proceeds from this event also help to finance the UFCW Scholarship Fund.) It is important to us to promote a healthy lifestyle to our family, friends and members.
Want to be a part of this great event? No Problem.
Walking is one way to participate but not the only way. You can also get involved by reaching out to family and friends to collect donations, making your own personal donation, or recruiting people to form teams to walk in the event. Participants have enjoyed raffle prizes, trophies and awards.
Don’t miss the next great opportunity to enjoy a beautiful day outside while helping others! The Local 888 Walk-A-Thon is a family-friendly event that includes live music, lunch and activities for children.
The 6th Annual Walk-A-Thon will be held on Sunday, September 30th, 2018 at the Saddle River County Park Wild Duck Pond Area.
Let’s make this year’s Walk-A-Thon our best yet.
