Dear Member:
Please be advised that on December 14th , a New York City vaccine mandate was put into place by Mayor de Blasio. This mandate states that starting December 27th, all private-sector workers who have not filed for reasonable accommodations must provide proof of full vaccination or proof of at least one dose to their employers.
If an employee is not fully vaccinated, the individual must submit the date by which proof of the second dose will be provided. According to city requirements, that date must be within 45 days of when proof of their first dose was submitted. Workers who believe they may qualify for a reasonable accommodation for medical or religious beliefs must request this accommodation by December 27th.
In the coming days, your employer will be asking you to provide proof of vaccination so that they are compliant with the mandate. This city-ordered mandate is being upheld by the courts and we are working with your employer to find a solution in which we can best protect our members. As always, we are working in the best interest of our membership, but due to the current circumstances, our options are limited.
Should you have any questions about the vaccine mandate or filing for a reasonable accommodation, please contact your Union Representative. Thank you for your patience during this time.
In Solidarity,
